Charl Best,
the founder and principal of SIPS., for the past 16 years will be your
course leader. He has done 15 international exhibitions and are still a
practitioner as a professional photographer in Stellenbosch.
His photos
are published in newspapers and international magazines. Charl did
scientific photography for WNNR.,worked for naspers and perskor as a
photographer and studied art at US. He did documentary films, hundreds
of weddings and business product video’s.
Digital photography course by distance learning
By doing
this course in the comfort of your own home, you will learn the
important basic rules and tips to take brilliant and professional
photos.
Also to build up a portfolio and learn how to use digital
photography.
Course
material are three Dvd’s, three textbooks ( to email) and projects that has
to be completed and send back to us for evaluation.
Students can
enroll for 12 months and start any time of the year. Anyone can
register!
There will
always be a lecturer available for advice by telephone or e-mail.
You will
learn step – by - step
Included in
the distance training photography are:
-
The
first of three section notes, a light sensitive photo paper to take
your photo with your handmade pinhole camera, and a DVD. with your
first class. We will learn and demonstrate to you techniques that
took pros to the top.

At the
same time you will receive the first two projects that has to be
handed in/ send back to us after completing the first section for
evaluation.

Afterwards we will send you the second section with a summary of
what we thought of the first projects. We also allow students that
live near Stellenbosch to visit us for this evaluation.

There
will also be lecturers available throughout the course by e-mail or
telephone if you need any help or have questions. You will be able
to go through the course on a disciplined and easy pace.

You have
12 months to complete the course. Our previous student took about 11
months on average to complete the course, but if you are under work
stress we will accommodate you and extend 14 months.

A theory
exam are written at the end of the three sections at any educational
institution near you home to receive your Sips. certificate.

The end
of the course does’nt mean we are done with you, you can still contact
us with any questions or advise on photography and photographic gear.
We will also invite you to
workshops and overseas tours that we organize to Thailand, Greece,
,Turkey for new techniques. Also underwater and
landscape photography.

distance training course you can join the full-time course in the second
semester at Stellenbosch.

Charl
Best studied art in Worcester and
at the University of Stellenbosch. He worked at Media 24 and Perskor as a
photographer and journalist. Charl applied scientific photography at CSIR. at
Stellenbosch and specialised in oceanology, chronocycle and ultraviolet
photography. He had over 15 one-man photography exhibitions, nationally and
internationally. In 1984 Charl founded Starlight Studios and Best Models, which
are still operating to date. Charl started Sips. in 1996, a multi
media institution.
His photographs appeared in leading newspapers
and international magazines. His has experience of over 28 years in photography,
which includes scientific, documentary, commercial
and art photography. Charl is also a prominent producer and have made numerous
movies and also teaches video production at SIPS.
Charl Best s a noted
educator, photographer, scuba diver, yachtsman and ex-pilot. He regularly takes
his students and members of the public, who are keen on both traveling and
photography, on guided photographic tours to Thailand, Mozambique,
Greece and Turkey.
 
Through this course you will find yourself taking enjoyment in
developing a personal style of your own. If you plan to obtain a
Starlight
Studio franchise from us, you will have to apply, but if you excel in
this course it would not be a problem.

not mean the end of our relationship. You can phone us at any time after the course to ask for advice or to get a
evaluation on your latest
photographs.
We will from time to time contact you to join us on the
latest workshop and group photo exhibitions. You can also join our photo
club where we will meet on a 2 monthly basis to crit photographs. Only
for all our x-students over the past decade.

Deur hierdie kursus in die gerief van
jou eie woning te voltooi, sal jy al die belangrikste beginsels
onder die knie kry om briljante foto’s te neem. Ook om n
portefeulje op te bou en digitale fotografie toe te pas. Kursus materiale bestaan uit ‘drie
Dvd’s, drie handboeke (wat ons e-pos) en projekte wat voltooi moet word en
vir ons gestuur moet word vir evalueering.
Studente kan enige tyd
van die jaar registreer en die kursus begin. Daar is geen vereistes
om te registreer nie.
Daar is altyd ‘n dosent vir advies
per telefoon, of e-pos beskikbaar gedurende die 12 maande wat jy het
om die kursus te doen.
Jy leer stap-vir-stap
Ingesluit in die afstandonderig
kursus is die volgende:

Die eerste afdeling van drie se
notas,’n ligsensitiewe fotopapier om jou eerste handgemaakte
kamera se foto mee te neem en ‘n Dvd vir jou eerste lesing.

Ons leer jou en demonstreer die
tegnieke wat die pro’s laat bo uitkom het.
-
Terselfdertyd ontvang jy die
eerste twee projeke wat aan die einde van die eerste afdeling
voltooi moet word en teruggestuur moet word vir evaluering.

Hierna stuur ons die tweede
afdeling met kritiek van die eerste projek. Ons laat ook toe
dat studente wat naby Stellenbosch bly persoonlik vir hierdie
evaluerings inkom.

Daar word ook deur die loop van
die kursus per e-pos of telefoon met ons dosente geskakel indien
daar vrae of verduidelikings benodig word. Op hierdie manier
gaan jy op ‘n gedissiplineerde en lekker pas deur die kursus.

Jy het 12 maande om die kursus te
voltooi. Ons oud studente het gemiddeld nege maande geneem,
sommige professionele studente wat onder werkdruk was het ons
selfs uitstel gegee na 14 maande.

‘n Teoretiese eksamen oor die
handboek, ongeveer 200 bladsye word aan die einde geskryf by
enige opvoedkundige instelling naby aan jou om ‘n Sips

onderrig foto kursus kan jy ook VOLTYDS by ons tweede
semester op Stellenbosch inval en die gevorderde fotografie kursus
doen.
