This career-orientated course are presented by young, passionate, enthusiastic and professional career people in Stellenbosch.

What make Sips so famous ?

 

Seventeen years of existence, our high standards in multimedia, photography, Video production, Graphic design and Photo -and TV make-up, keeps us up to date with technology.

 

Charl Best,  the founder and principal of SIPS., for the past 16 years will be your course leader.  He has done 15 international photo exhibitions and are still practice professional photography.

His photos are published in newspapers and international magazines. Charl did scientific photography for WNNR.,worked for naspers and perskor as a photographer and studied art at US. He did documentary films, hundreds of weddings and business product video’s.

 

 YOU HAVE THE TALENT AND THE INTEREST , SIPS GOT THE INFORMATION AND INSPIRATION TO MAKE YOUR SKILLS GROW INTO A DREAM CAREER.

 

This course is practical and give more meaning to the saying "There's never a dull moment". The student gets the opportunity to get al the necessary experience with hands - on corporate education in Photography and Multi media.

SIPS will expose you in all the different types of Photography, e.g. Landscape, Fashion, Documentary, Digital and Commercial photography, Studio, Pack shots, Room sets etc. At the end of your course you will have a high standard Professional Portfolio in all the specializing subjects that’s acceptable all over the world

SIPS believe OXYGEN is important for the BRAIN, so the outside practical shoots and sessions are common here!  We spend 70% on practical and 30% theory.

The theory is a breeze even for a student with concentration problems!

 

Course information

 

1st Semester (Basic Photography) February: (course begin and ends 15 June.

Up to 4 optional complimentary subjects to photography can be taken in the first semester with photography.

July to November: (Advanced Photography) and optional extra 2 subjects

Course hours :  Monday to Thursdays 8:30 - 13:00 and 14:00 - 15:30. (Fridays no class or tours)

 

Transport is organized by us, computers will be available for all students, the necessary materials and costs will be specified beforehand so there will be no hidden costs!

We only accept 25 students to keep our 5:1 student/ lecturer ratio so that we can guarantee our personal attention to our students

Sips: main subjects and additional information:

Sips is a private institute that is focused to prepare you for the Photographic and Multimedia market.

After completing your studyyear, you will lhave a SIPS certificate and a complete Portfolio to start your professional career.

·The study-content consist of 70% practical and 30% theory. The Cape Town Institute is English only

  Cost for Photography for the year is R31 000.00

·In the second semester you can specialize in PHOTOGRAPHY, VIDEO PRODUCTION and GRAPHIC COMPUTERS

  • To give a clear message to the viewer .
  • To communicate with your camera.
  • Composition, Lighting, Exposure, Rule of thirds, Shutter speed, Color theory, Digital Photography, Marketing, Exhibitions, Presentation of your own Photos and more useful techniques that will ensure that your Photo’s will always be a success.

You will get the opportunity to develop your own black and white photos in our darkroom (where you can play around with light), or to shoot your photos in our studio. SIPS is the institute that will help you show your unique style to everyone in the best possible way.

  • We visit the best photographers at their studios in Cape Town every Wednesday: eg. Pixel foundry, Media 24, and Roodebloem Studios.

Sips will teach you within a year how to be a commercial photographer, how to get you into the photography market and how to sell your Photos.

Photography (to draw with light), is an exciting, creative way to express your feelings.

  •  In the first semester you will learn how to use your camera and also learn about: -Color theory, Composition, Equipment, Film and Digital, Lenses, Black and White photography techniques and developing of your own photos in the darkroom

  • -You will have practical Photo sessions, photographing stills, stock photography, a bit of the History of photography, wine and advertising, landscapes, room-sets, fashion, industrial and studio lighting

  • You will have the opportunity to take part in our group exhibition in June to exhibit your own work of the first semester.

 

SECOND SEMESTER:

 

     The students will learn more about advance, specialized techniques that will make them professional Photographers.

     The students will participate in workshops, presented by the best photographers in the Western Cape and will work in highly 

     equipped studio's.

 

   You will do workshops in:

 

· Fashion, Make-up, Digital, Landscapes, Studio · Lighting, ‘Pack shots', Advertising, Food, · ‘Room sets', commercial, weddings, 

   Interior, and Industrial photography

· Advanced Theory to get the student ready for the commercial market

 

   Marketing and Sales is a compulsory subject for the second semester

 

  Students can also take Graphic computers( Advance Photoshop, CorelDraw, In - and Web design) and Video production as   

  additional subjects.

  Sips -  Voltyds vanaf Februarie 2012  

ALGEMENE INLIGTING

 

 

Hierdie BEROEPSGERIGTE kursus word aangebied deur uitgesoekte professionele,  entoesiastiese jong beroepspersone. Ons dosente is deel van die top studio’s in die weskaap en die dosente is aktiewe werkende fotograwe en ontwerpers in hulle spesialis gebiede.

Die kursus word onder die leiding van Charl Best aangebied wat die stigter en hoof van Sips is. Charl het n fotografiese agtergrond in toegepaste wetenskaplike fotografie van WNNR., persfotografie en n kuns agtergrond van US. en vryskutwerk sowel as n aktiewe ateljee in Stellenbosch.

Sips spog met n klasbank syfer van 3 % per jaar en oortref alle ander opvoedkundige instellings se bywoning. Ons hiperaktiewe studente (tipies van kreatiewe mense) kan nie genoeg van ons kreatiewe klasse kry nie en oortref hulself. 

 

 

Wat maak SIPS bekend ?

 

Sestien jaar se volharding en Sips se hoe standaarde in multimedia soos, fotografie, rolprentproduksie, grafiese ontwerp en foto-en TV. grimering, maak dat ons op die voorgrond bly van tegnologie en ons studente hier uitstap met n portefeulje wat vir hulle deure oopmaak.

 

JY BESKIK OOR DIE TALENT OF DIE BELANGSTELLING, SIPS OOR AL DIE INLIGTING EN INSPIRASIE OM JOU VAARDIGHEID IN ‘N BEROEP TE LAAT GROEI.

 

Hierdie kursus is prakties en kom die se-ding:”There’s never a dull moment” tot sy volle reg.  Die hammer word op die spyker geslaan met kooperatiewe onderig waar die student die geleentheid kry om lewensvatbare ondervinding op te doen. 

SIPS bied sy studente ondervinding aan in verskillende tipes fotografie, bv. Landskap-, Mode-, Dokumentere-, Digital-, Industriele-, Ateljee-, Kos-, Makro-,  Stock-, Troue- en Kommersiele fotografie. 

Hierdie kursus word voltooi met kennis wat by jou ore uitloop en ‘n baie hoe standaard fotografie portefeulje.

Na voltooiing van die sertifikaat kursus in die eerste semester, het jy die keuse om in een of meer vakke, afhangende van die vak keuse, in die tweede semester aan te gaan en meer in-diepte daarin te spesialiseer vir n gevorderde sertifikaat van Sips.

 

  

 

 

SIPS glo SUURSTOF is goed vir die BREIN, dus is die buitelug praktiese sessies algemeen by ons.  Ons spandeer 60% aan prakties en 40% teorie.  Selfs die student met konsentrasie te kort, breeze deur ons teorie. 

 

 KURSUS INLIGTING

 

?     7  Februarie 2012: (of 21 Julie 11) kursus begin en duur tot 15 Junie 2011.  Tot vyf vakke kan in die eerste semester voltooi word.

?      23 Julie tot 15 November 2012: in die 2 de semester  kan in of een (of tot drie) vakke gespesialiseer word.

?      Kursusure:  Maandag tot Donderdag 8:30 - 13:00 en 14:00 - 15:30. (Vrydae klasvry of  toere)

?     Verblyf is opsioneel. ‘n Dubbelkamer kos  R2600.00 per maand.

?     Vervoer word deur ons gereël, materiale en kostes word voor die tyd uitgespel en daar is geen verskuilde kostes nie.

 

?      Ons aanvaar slegs 25 studente om 5:1 student/ dosent verhouding te handhaaf en persoonlike aandag te waarborg. 

                        

         Wat is SIPS se Visie vir jou as student?

·     Hoof oogmerk: om jou voor te berei vir die Fotografiese- Grafiese ontwerp en Rolprentmark.

·     Foto-komplimenterende vakke help jou verder met Beroeps-en Studiekeuses en dit komplimenteer Fotografie en  dus kan jy baie meer doen as om net n foto te neem maar dit ook manipuleer en saam met jou Ontwerp gebruik in n brosjure vir jou klient.

·       Die blootstelling by Sips sal jou help om jou voet in die deur te kry vir ’n professionele loopbaan in fotografie en selfs as n oorbruggens jaar. Ons is ook die eerste foto skool wat gekeur is om keuring te doen vir fotograwe wat op die passasierskepe in die Karibiese see werk.

 

Sips: Hoofvak en Addissionele inligting:

        Sips is ’n private instansie wat daarop toegespits is om jou voor te berei vir die arbeidsmark in multimedia.

        By Sips kan jy jou kreatiewe denke verryk asook begin dink aan ’n nuwe beroepslewe!

        Wanneer jy, jou studiejaar voltooi het, sal jy ons verlaat met ’n Sips Gevorderde Sertifikaat en ’n volledige  

            portefeulje om jou professionele lewe te kan begin.

        Die studie-inhoud bestaan uit 70% prakties en 30% teorie. Kaapstad instituut is slegs Engels.

        Sips se hoofvak is FOTOGRAFIE.

           Koste vir die fotografie hoofvak vir die jaar is R31 000 (plus R800.00 indien na 1 Augustus 2011 geregistreer 

            word.)

 

        In die tweede semester kan jy verder spesialiseer in FOTOGRAFIE, VIDEO PRODUKSIE of GRAFIESE REKENAAR

            ONTWERP (gevorderde photoshop of foto manipulasie, Coreldraw en Indesign).

 Die komplimenterende vakke behalwe Fotografie in die eerste semester, sluit in:

 

    Video Produksie        Donkerkamer tegnieke        Grimering (TV -en foto),        Rekenaars(win XP.)   

   Grafiese Ontwerp             Tv.aanbieding          Studio beligting        Visuele kommunikasie 

       Die koste vir n addissionele komplimenterende vak in die eerste semester  is vanaf  R 1 700.00

           

   Meer oor FOTOGRAFIE ons gunsteling vak:

    

1.      Om die boodskap duidelik oor te dra aan die kyker.

2.      Te kommunikeer met jou kamera.

3.      Komposisie, Beligting, Blootstelling, Reël van derdes, Sluiterspoed, Kleurteorie, Digitale Fotografie, Bemarking,  

         Uitstallings, Aanbieding van jou fotos en nog vele bruikbare tegnieke wat sal verseker dat jou fotos elke keer ’n   

         sukses is.

4.       Jy sal ook die geleentheid verkry om jou fotos self te ontwikkel in ons donkerkamer (waar jy met lig kan speel), of    

          om jou fotos in ons studio’s te skiet (indien jy die ekstra vak neem)

    

SIPS wil JOU help om jou Unieke Styl op die bes moontlikste manier UIT te BEELD.

 

5.      Behalwe vir die teorie wat jy agter die rug moet kry, besoek ons ook nuuswaardige plekke. Elke Woensdag van die

         2de semester klas by die beste fotograwe in Kaapstad.

6.      Ons leer jou om binne ’n jaar ’n volwaardige kommersiele fotograaf te word, hoe om jou voet in die mark te kry, 

         asook om jou fotos verkoop te kry.

7.      Fotografie (om met lig te teken), is ’n opwindende, kreatiewe manier om jou gevoelens mee uit te beeld.

8.      Fotos speel só ’n belangrike rol in ons lewens dat dit moeilik is om te glo dat dit nie twee dekades gelede ’n

         bekende aktiwiteit was nie.

9.      Fotografie kan ’n wonderlike en uitdagende stokperdjie wees. MAAR,  dit kán ook ’n suksesvolle en genotvolle

         professie wees.

        

DUS, as jy die PASSIE en Deursettingsvermoe het, is hierdie die kursus vir JOU !

 

Gedurende die eerste semester, sal jy die tegniek om jou kamera ten volle te gebruik bemeester.

Jy sal ook leer van : -    Kleurteorie  -  Komposisie-   Toerusting-  Film en Digitaal-  Lense-  Filters- Visuele

 kommunikasie en Photoshop. Jy sal praktiese fotosessies hê,nl: • Die afneem van stil-lewes, stock fotos vir

 die internet, wyn en advertensies, landskap, room-sets, ode, industrieel en studiobeligting.

 Fotosessies buite asook verskeie landskappe.   Jy sal die geleentheid hê om tydens ’n groeps uitstalling

 jou werk uit te stal wat jy in die eerste semester geneem het – dit geskied gewoonlik in Junie elke jaar.

 

Ons hou elke jaar op die 15 Junie n groepfoto uitstalling met oa. Die volgende temas uit die verlede:

TWEEDE SEMESTER:

-     Die student leer meer van gevorderde, gespesialiseerde tegnieke wat van jou ’n professionele fotograaf sal maak.

-     Die student sal slypskole bywoon, aangebied deur die beste fotograwe in die Weskaap en sal ook hoogs toegeruste studios bywoon vir opleiding.

-     Jy sal werkswinkels voltooi in oa.:

        Mode, Grimering, Digitaal, Landskappe, Studio,    Beligting, ‘Packshots’, Advertensiewese, Kos-

        Makro, Kommersieel, Troues, Interieur, en Industrieel.

          

  • Verkope en bemarking is n verpligte(gratis) vak en word ook in die tweede semester  voltooi.

Daar is n tweede jaar vir slegs drie student in die vorm van n internskap wat by ons voltooi kan word.

Ondervinding saam met Charl Best in toegepaste kommersiele fotografie, studio werk en ook klasgee by Sips sal deel
